Rational of the Study:
I selected specific
sub-theme and topic because current study is important because of many reasons.
The study through its findings will inform the teachers on how to teach
effectively classroom for proper assimilation on the parts of the students and
also how to motivate their students to higher academic performance. School
administrators will benefit from the study by ensuring that only trained,
competent and experienced teachers are employed in the teaching profession.
Students will be made aware to comprehend the style of teaching adopted by
their teachers for effective learning outcomes. Government will realize the
need to formulate attractive incentive package to stir up the commitment and
dedication of teachers to their jobs. Future researchers will be guided via
this study in their prospective research undertakings. My project will help the
reader to understand the relationship between teacher professionalism and students’
academic achievement.

Discussion with
colleagues/friends/supervisor:
I discussed
with my colleagues/friends/supervisor for better understanding of my topic. Firstly
I told them that this study will provide information for parents, educators and
school administrator about impact of teacher’s professionalism on student’s
efficacy at secondary level. I told them that teacher’s
self-efficacy and professionalism are two of the most important
variables consistently related to outcomes of positive teaching
and student learning. Teacher
professionalism is defined as the knowledge, skills, and practices
that teachers must
have in order to be effective educators. The report focuses on lower
secondary teachers in
different education systems and looks at cross-cultural differences in teacher professionalism.
One of my colleague told that administrators and teachers represent
their school district and should do so at all times in a professional manner.
For educators, professionalism includes
personal appearance and dressing appropriately. It also includes how you talk
and act both inside and outside of school.
My friend told that through professionalism, he explains, students learn to
understand each other, which helps them to build friendships based on positive
relationships of trust. Taking the time to demonstrate professionalism
can also develop student-teacher relationships.
My respected teacher
discussed that teacher’s
social-emotional competencies seem to play a significant role in promoting
social-emotional learning in schools. Empathic teachers were found to possess a
higher level of morality; to communicate more successfully with their students;
to encourage them to forge empathic relationships; and to successfully motivate
their students. Yet, there is a dearth of literature on how to develop such professionalism
in teachers.
